DUBAI // A British man has denied assaulting his ex-wife in front of their 8-year-old son.

When A H appeared at the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours, the 47-year-old denied charges of physically assaulting S S, 49, also British, on October 9 last year.

The woman said her ex-husband came to her house in Mirdif and attempted to take their youngest son. When she tried to stop him, A H allegedly assaulted S S while the boy was watching.

S S told prosecutors that she divorced A H 18 months before the incident.

“We have problems and we have a case at the Dubai Sharia court regarding custody and alimony,” said S S.

Their 14-year-old daughter T H testified she heard her mother’s screams and rushed downstairs where she saw A H pulling her younger brother from S S’s arms.

“My brother then hit his head as a result of the pulling and my dad started punching and kicking my mother,” said T H.

A neighbour, American NA, 52, told prosecutors he was on his balcony when he heard screams coming from S S’s house.

The next hearing will be in March.
