Limo driver ‘assaulted female passenger on way back from Dubai airport’

DUBAI // A limousine driver is accused of sexually assaulting a female passenger after picking her up from Dubai International Airport.

The 36-year-old Bangladeshi allegedly touched the woman’s arms then offered to massage her shoulders while he was driving her to Regency Hotel in Naif in the early hours of March 22, Dubai Criminal Court was told on Wednesday.

The woman, whose nationality and age were not given, said that she took the front seat of the limousine and, on the way, the driver touched her left arm and attempted to touch her thigh when she stopped him.

Prosecutors said that he claimed to the tourist that he only wanted to give her a massage to help her relax after the long flight. After he dropped her off at the hotel, the woman called police and gave them the limousine’s plate number.

Police and prosecutors said that he admitted a sexual assault charge during questioning.

However, in court on Wednesday, he denied it, saying: “I didn’t touch her at all.”

The next hearing will be on June 15.
