Residents living near Jebel Ali should not be alarmed if they see a fire in the industrial area this evening.
Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP) will be carrying out operational tests in Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1 for about two weeks from tonight. The tests will result in the flaring of hydrocarbon gas, said Dubai Media Office on its Twitter account.
“The flaring will look like a fire and will be visible to residents of the neighbouring areas,” it said. “Please do not be alarmed.”
DUSUP supplies natural gas to a number of utility and industrial companies in Dubai, including Dewa, Dubal, Dugas, Enoc and Dubai Petroleum for power generation, desalination and a range of other industrial requirements.
The company has a number of locations across Dubai, including the Gas Control Station, which controls and distributes the flow of pipeline gas to its customers from the station's base in the sprawling Jebel Ali Industrial complex.
