Investigation launched after videos emerge of 'discovery' of newborn in Abu Dhabi public toilet

Abu Dhabi Police has launched an investigation after a series of videos emerged on social media which appear to show the discovery of a newborn baby in a public toilet in Abu Dhabi.

The five videos, which were shared on YouTube, show the baby wrapped in a blanket and cradled by a woman who claims she found the newborn in the toilet cubicle.

In one video, a woman is heard explaining in Arabic how she went to use the bathroom and discovered the baby in there, as a child is heard confirming how she saw her go in empty handed and exit the building holding the newborn.

In another video in the series, the baby is being treated by paramedics. The umbilical cord is still attached.

An Abu Dhabi Police patrol car is seen approaching the area in another video.

It is not known when the alleged incident occurred and there is no confirmation in the video where it took place.

The videos were uploaded to YouTube on December 11.

A spokesman for Abu Dhabi Police said: “The General Command of Abu Dhabi Police is investigating the incident.”
