SHARJAH // The family of a woman whose husband stabbed her to death has asked that charges against him be dropped.
The Pakistani man lived with his wife and their son, 6, in an apartment they shared with another family in Sharjah. The couple argued over marital problems and he stabbed her twice with a knife in January.
“Yes, I did,” he told Sharjah Criminal Court. “I stabbed her once in the neck and the other in her chest with a knife.”
The family who shared the flat in Abu Shugara heard screaming and shouting. One family member told prosecutors he opened the door and found the wife on the floor, bleeding.
The husband tried to escape but was held down until police arrived, he said. The wife was dead when the ambulance crew arrived.
Her sister told the judge that her father wanted to drop the charges against the man.
The defence lawyer said the waiver document would be submitted at the next hearing, which is set for October 12.
