ABU DHABI // HSBC customers will be unable to withdraw cash from auto teller machines or use their bank cards for several hours this weekend as the bank upgrades its computer network.

Maintenance work is scheduled to take place from 10pm on Thursday until 10am on Friday, then again from 9pm on Friday until 8am the following day.

“Many of our banking services, specifically personal and commercial credit and debit card services, and ATM services, including cash withdrawal and cash deposit, will be unavailable for short durations during this period,” HSBC said.

Visa credit card holders will also be unable to withdraw cash from ATMs, from 9pm to 9.15pm on Friday, and from midnight to 4am on Saturday. MasterCard holders will face the same issue from 9pm on Friday until 4am the following day.

Some credit card point-of-sales transactions may also be declined during outage times, the bank said.

However, internet banking and mobile phone banking services will not be disrupted.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience,” the bank said.
