The Ministry of Health has warned the public from falling for con artists who falsely claim to be able to administer cupping and bleeding techniques to heal various ailments.
Officials said unlicensed people who work in herbology shops as well as peddlers and even some mosque imams claim the techniques help to rid the body of dead blood cells.
The ministry’s undersecretary for public health and licenses, Amin Al Amiri, chairman of the complementary medicine committee, called on the public to avoid these practices, especially as there is no scientific evidence to support them and they could lead to irreparable damage.
