Sharjah pharmacies shut down for selling fake sanitiser

Officials said the counterfeit products had been seized

A number of pharmacies in Sharjah have been shut down for selling fake hand sanitisers.

Officials in the emirate said the products had been seized and that the businesses concerned would be prosecuted.

The illegal selling came to light following shop inspections in Khor Fakkan by the Sharjah Economic Development Department.

“We will continue to carry out inspection campaigns to ensure proper economic practices are followed," said Khalfan Al Herathi, director of SEDD.

He said officials aimed to "reduce commercial fraud and protect consumers, especially in such exceptional circumstances".
