Sharjah's Baby-Friendly Campaign (SBFC) has been hailed as a model example by the American peer-reviewed journal, Breastfeeding Medicine.
The publication, printed in New York as the official journal of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, carried a four-page feature this month highlighting Sharjah’s campaign.
The article praised Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, for launching the campaign. Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, chairwoman of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, Shurooq, president of the campaign and honorary president of the Breastfeeding Friends Association, was also recognised for her patronage of the SBFC, which was launched in 2011.
