Two men who allegedly sold growth hormone pills using BlackBerry Messenger adverts are to appear before an Abu Dhabi court.

The duo were caught in a sting operation after police spotted the adverts, which marketed the pills as body building supplements.

The pills, if used without medical supervision, can cause dangerous side-effects such as extreme fatigue and even death, the court heard.

The men have been charged with selling medicine without a prescription and endangering the lives of others.

If found guilty, they could be jailed for up to three years.
