The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority issued warnings to six fruit and vegetable shops at Mina Market in an unannounced inspection carried out on Tuesday. Seven kilograms of produce was destroyed afterwards.
The surprise inspection, which covered shops selling fruits, vegetables and meat, was part of efforts to ensure food safety ahead of Ramadan. Mohammed Al Raisi, from the authority, said the agency was stepping up inspection efforts to meet standards.
