ABU DHABI // The UAE’s nuclear regulator has presented the country’s third national report to the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The report from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation is available to all 78 parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety. They can review it and submit written questions to the UAE.
The report was presented as part of the UAE’s participation in the seventh review meeting of the parties to the convention, according to Wam, the state news agency.
It includes an update to the lessons learnt from the 2011 accident at Japan’s Fukushima power station and the measures taken in the UAE to prevent a similar incident.
The report also mentions preparations under way to prepare for the country’s first nuclear reactor to beign operations, which is expected early next year.
The convention will take place from March 27 to April 7 next year at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna.
