One of the UAE's newest Cabinet members held talks with the foreign minister of Yemen on Saturday.
Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan, who was appointed as Minister of State earlier this month, received Dr Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak in Abu Dhabi.
The two discussed ties between the nations as well as areas of mutual interest and regional developments.
Sheikh Shakhbout emphasised the UAE's support for the security and stability of Yemen.
The Emirates is set to announce a boost of $230 million in the assistance it provides to Yemen ahead of a pledging conference to be hosted by Switzerland and Sweden on Monday.
The UN Pledging Conference will hear that the funds will be in addition to ongoing bilateral UAE assistance efforts in the country.
The donation is designed to underwrite international programmes that meet the medical, nutritional, and food security needs of the conflict-torn country. The UAE will work to ensure the funding is directed in support of the UN Humanitarian Response Plan.
Sheikh Shakhbout was appointed Minister of State alongside Khalifa Al Marar, previously assistant minister of political affairs. following a 'mini-shuffle' of the Cabinet earlier this month.
He previously served as the UAE ambassador to Saudi Arabia, a role he took up in 2017.
Prior to that, he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation between 2013 and 2014.
An elite-level show jumper, he has also served as president of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation.
On Saturday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, announced two further additions to the government's ranks.
He confirmed Hamad Mubarak Al Shamsi would take on the position of Minister of State in the UAE Cabinet.
Khalifa Saeed Suleiman was named as head of ceremonies for the Vice President and Prime Minister, taking the rank of a minister.
