UMM AL QUWAIN // Housing support valued at Dh590 million has been awarded to 915 Emiratis.

The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme board of directors confirmed the names of the recipients, under directives from the President, Sheikh Khalifa, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

It was overseen by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

The decision was announced as the board held its second meeting of the year at the Umm Al Quwain Housing Complex project in Shuhada City, reported Wam, the state news agency.

The location was chosen because the members of the board aimed to follow up on the programme’s work and inspect it, said Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and board chairman.

He said the country’s leadership is focused on citizens’ happiness and welfare, and aims to provide modern, sustainable housing projects “that answer their needs and provide for their stability and happiness”.

The support included 537 loans and 122 residential grants for new buildings, housing completion, housing maintenance and purchases, public housing, expansion projects and additional housing.

Recipients’ names are confirmed by the programme each month, as part of the programme’s efforts to meet Emiratis’ housing needs.
