Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, said on Tuesday that his three-day official tour of China had been “outstanding”.
“We, in the UAE, have significant interest in developing and bolstering bilateral cooperation in economic fields,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
“We will work together to revive and consolidate these historic bonds so as to serve the interests and future of our two countries.”
On the last day of his tour, Sheikh Mohammed took in a number of major economic, financial and industrial corporations in Shanghai.
The Crown Prince also visited Shanghai Stock Exchange, where he was given an introduction on its history and evolution.
“I am pleased to visit the Shanghai Stock Exchange, one of the financial and economic powerhouses of China, and get information about its history, trading activities, as well as its vital role in supporting the Chinese economy and enhancing its place in the global economic landscape,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
Among the officials Sheikh Mohammed met was Yang Xiong, the mayor of Shanghai.
The leaders took the opportunity to discuss ways of strengthening economic and investment cooperation.
Sheikh Mohammed also praised the progress Shanghai had made in areas such as advanced technology, industry, aviation and air transport.
Mr Yang said he hoped Sheikh Mohammed’s visit would help to improve bilateral ties.
“I have followed the results of Your Highness’s visit to Beijing and your talks with the Chinese president and vice president, as well as your visit to the Great Wall of China,” Mr Yang said, adding that China’s leadership was keen to further strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation with the Leadership, Government and people of the UAE.
