SHARJAH // The Sharjah Baby-Friendly Emirate Campaign has been hailed as a success by Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of the emirate.
More than 82 institutions have been classified as mother-friendly since the campaign launched in 2011, and 18 public places across Sharjah are now considered friendly to mothers and babies.
Twenty-eight nurseries are considered breastfeeding-friendly, and the number of health facilities deemed baby-friendly increased from two to 12.
Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, president of the campaign, said it helped working mothers.
“Being a mother of three, I know the challenges that faces women who want to succeed in their carriers and being a good mother,” she said. “It comes with social and psychological challenges, and having a baby-friendly workplace would help mothers in balancing work and being a mother.”
