RAS AL KHAIMAH // Ras Al Khaimah police have foiled an attempt to smuggle 10.8 million Tramadol pills to an Arab-African country through the emirate on the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
The drugs, with an estimated street value of Dh3 million, were carried by smugglers on a cargo plane bound for Ras Al Khaimah International Airport from an Asian country, said Maj Gen Ali Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of RAK police.
Suspects have been referred to authorities for legal procedures, according to the state news agency, Wam.
Maj Gen Al Nuaimi praised the role of Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in fighting drugs smuggling.
