Mohammad Al Momani, Jordan’s Minister for Media Affairs and Communication, has praised the directives of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa for the stationing of a UAE Air Force F-16 squadron in Jordan.

''This is not the first time that the UAE has supported Jordan. We fought side by side in many places and it is not surprising that the brave soldiers of the UAE will be working with their Jordanian brothers,' said Al Momani in a statement to the Jordanian newspaper, Alarab Alyawm.

He also pointed out that this decision comes in support of Jordanian military efforts and its active participation in the coalition against ISIL.

On Sunday, the UAE ordered a squadron of F-16 fighter jets to Jordan to support the kingdom in airstrikes against ISIL militants in Syria and Iraq. The order was issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
