Iraq president praises UAE Mars mission as source of pride for Arab world

Iraqi President Barham Salih paid a visit to Abu Dhabi where he congratulated the UAE on its mission to Mars.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, hosted Mr Salih at Al Shati Palace in the capital.

The two discussed further developing relations between their countries as well as the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Salih praised the UAE on its Mars mission after the Hope probe successfully entered the Red Planet’s orbit on Tuesday.

He called the Mars mission a source of pride for Arabs and wished for the UAE sustained progress and development.

The two also discussed issues of regional and international interest, with Sheikh Mohamed reaffirming the UAE’s determination to ensure the stability, security and territorial integrity of Iraq and continued support for its people.

He stressed the importance of Iraq in the Arab world and the significant role it plays in strengthening joint Arab action.

Sheikh Mohamed thanked Mr Salih for his appreciation of the historic success achieved by Hope probe.

The two also addressed the latest developments in the battle against coronavirus and their countries' efforts to stem the humanitarian, economic and health fallout of the pandemic.
