AJMAN // Residents in the Al Subegha area were subjected to a two-and-a-half hour power on Wednesday.
Al Ittihad, The National's sister newspaper, reported that the power cuts hit 42 homes.
Residents have now demanded Ajman Electricity and Water Authority takes appropriate measures to stop this reoccurring problem.
F M, an Emirati woman, said they were fearful of what would happen if an emergency occurred during a night-time power cut.
She said those who suffer the most are children and elderly, as they are unable to cope with climate changes. She said the problem is made worse when winds carry dust from nearby quarries.
Another Emirati, Umm Salem, said that power cuts are happening less often than in previous years. She said once a power cut once had lasted a whole day during summer. “We fear a recurrence of such problem,” she said.
The authority did not respond to requests from Al Ittihad for comment.
