DUBAI // More than six million transactions worth Dh54.9 million have been recorded on Dubai Police’s smart services systems.
Col Khaled Al Razooqi, director of the smart services department, said since the launch of the force’s mobile website in November last year, there had been more than 1.3 million users.
He also said that 295,131 people had used the Dubai Police smartphone application, which was also launched last year.
Dubai Police will be showcasing more than 20 smart services at Gitex Technology Week 2014, which will run from October 12 to 16.
The force will be displaying its new, self-service smart technology machines, which will have video-conferencing capabilities aimed at transforming and expanding traditional call-centre services, said Col Al Razooqi.
“The ATM-like machine will replace the 30 kiosks that provide Dubai Police services,” he said. “The new machines will provide all the services that the kiosks already provide, with an additional 20.”
Col Al Razooqi said that a first-responders application for Google Glass would be demonstrated during the expo.
The new solution will allow officers in patrol cars to connect with police headquarters and other emergency services, said Col Al Razooqi, who added that the public can also use the app to cooperate with police in reporting traffic-law offenders.
Another new service planned will be smart radars, which will be hooked up to patrol vehicles allowing police to record and fine speeding motorists while on the move.
