UAE weather: Rain arrives in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

The country is going through a week of turbulent weather, due a surface-air depression from the Red Sea

The UAE is set to see sand storms and overcast skies on Thursday, with the probability of rain falling over Western and coastal areas.

The National Centre of Meteorology issued a weather warning overnight, forecasting rainfall and dust storms reducing horizontal visibility for commuters from 4.30am to 10am in most of the country.

Areas that saw rainfall early on Thursday included Al Dhafra, Al Mirfa and Tarif.

The weather bureau forecasts temperatures reaching up to 33°C in Abu Dhabi and 32°C in Dubai.

The NCM said wind speeds may reach up to 45kmph by the coast.

It will be moderate, becoming rough at times with cloud activity in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in Sea of Oman.

From Friday to Sunday, clouds and rain will form over parts of the country. There is also the chance of lightning in some areas.

On Monday, the weather will remain cloudy to partly cloudy in some areas, with the possibility of some slight rain in the east in the morning and a noticeable drop in temperature.
