SHARJAH // Emirati families in the emirate are to receive thousands of books as part of the Knowledge Without Borders cultural project.

It is the second part of the 13th and final phase of the project and will see 250,000 books sent to 5,000 families.

The campaign was launched by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, in 2008 and aims to make reading an integral part of locals’ lifestyle.

So far the initiative has distributed more than one million books among 20,000 families, with an average of 50 books per family.
