DUBAI // The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has opened its private libraries to all students to encourage the young generation to cultivate the habit of reading.

The move aims at supporting the Arab Reading Challenge, which was launched recently by Sheikh Mohammed bin, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. It is hoped that the initiative will encourage a million students to read five million books between September of this year and March of next year.

“To support the Arab Reading Challenge, and implement the objectives of the UAE National Agenda 2021 to develop a first-rate education system, Dewa has developed a strategy to become a sustainable learning organisation working to promote reading culture for all society,” said Saeed Al Tayer, managing director of Dewa.
