AJMAN // Two Asian men were arrested as they tried to sell a rented 2016 Nissan Patrol, police said on Tuesday.

R H and A A were trying to sell the car for Dh140,000, said Maj Ghaith Khalifa Al Kaabi, head of Ajman Police’s Nuaimiya station.

“We received information from a person saying that R H wants to sell a car without informing its owner,” he said.

“After the legal procedures were taken, we organised a team to investigate and prepare a trap to arrest the defendants.”

An undercover officer agreed with R H to meet to discuss the sale and when he did, both him and AA were arrested.

“The defendants admitted that they rented the car to sell it and admitted that they don’t have the right to sell it,” Maj Al Kaabi said.

They were transferred to prosecutors for charges to be brought forward.

Maj Al Kaabi urged people to be meticulous with documents when buying a second-hand car and to verify the identity of the seller before proceeding with the transaction.
