Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has approved new projects worth Dh2 billion by the Ministry of Public Works.
He was briefed during a meeting at the ministry's Dubai headquarters yesterday on work across the country that will cost an estimated Dh4bn, the state news agency Wam reported.
Sheikh Mohammed also launched the first phase of Al Amal Hospital in Al Ruwaayah, which is expected to cost Dh600 million. The project involves relocating the psychiatric hospital from Al Wasl, increasing its patient capacity from 14 to 272.
Projects being supervised by the Ministry of Public Works this year are set to cost Dh877m and are part of the Dh69bn federal investment programme for this year's public budget.
They will focus in improving education, health, and security, with others improving infrastructure in the Eastern Region.
Police stations in Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah are also planned, along with the completion of the Dh160m Abu Dhabi Police HQ.
Also at the meeting were Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, and Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works.

Recipe: Spirulina Coconut Brothie
Ingredients
1 tbsp Spirulina powder
1 banana
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk (full fat preferable)
1 tbsp fresh turmeric or turmeric powder
½ cup fresh spinach leaves
½ cup vegan broth
2 crushed ice cubes (optional)
Method
