Dubai Municipality inaugurates experimental solar-powered park

Dubai Municipality has inaugurated its first experimental solar-powered park in the emirate that will run independently from the power network operated by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, as part of a community power-saving initiative.

Engineer Mohammed Mashroom, head of the Public Projects Department at the Municipality, said the idea behind the experiment sprang from an initiative adopted by the General Projects Department, aiming to create gardens where energy is generated using solar energy.

Both the design and the execution of Al Khazzan Park were completed by the team and there was no external consultant on the project. The park is independent from the Dewa network and uses only solar energy, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
