DUBAI // A man will serve three months in jail for drunkenly assaulting a motorist because he parked poorly.
Russian A A, 24, denied charges of assault and consuming alcohol without a licence when he appeared at the Dubai Criminal Court, but was convicted. As well as being jailed he was also fined Dh2,000.
Prosecutors said that at 2am on September 23 last year, A A was under the influence of alcohol when he approached Iranian M T, 27, who was in his car in Dubai Marina and banged on the window.
He told M T he had parked badly then punched him in the face when he got out of his vehicle.
“A A screamed at my husband and punched him then walked away but returned and punched my husband again then fled,” S R, 24, the victim’s wife, said in records.
Police officer M M, 22, stated he found M T bleeding from the nose and had several bruises on his right check. “The couple told us that the attacker was drunk and was still inside the building.”
M M arrested AA at his home.
“M T started screaming at me so I punched him,” A A told prosecutors.
