A delegation from Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation has visited the UAE-funded refugee camp in Jordan.
The camp opened in Marjeeb Al Fahood in April 2013 to help the country as it struggled to cope with the influx of Syrian refugees.
Led by Sheikha Sheikha bint Saif Al Nahyan, the chief patron and vice president of the foundation, the delegation was welcomed by Ahmed Mubarak Al Junaibi, leader of the UAE relief team and manager of the camp, who said the visit had a positive impact on the aid workers’ morale.
Mr Al Junaibi gave a presentation on the health, educational and nutritional services provided by the UAE relief team to the Syrian refugees.
Sheikha Sheikha, wife of Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, toured the camp and helped distribute relief assistance donated by the foundation as part of the UAE Compassion campaign, launched by the UAE’s President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, to provide winter aid to Syrian refugees.
Sheikha Sheikha said she sensed great humanitarian and charitable initiatives carried out by the UAE to assist Syrian refugees in Jordan.
