Pregnant teenager is a virgin, Dubai Police doctor says

The medical report submitted to the court said she was 29-weeks pregnant but still a virgin.

DUBAI // A police medical doctor told a Dubai court this week that a 29-week pregnant Emirati teenager was still a virgin.

In a medical report presented to the Dubai Court of Family and Juveniles, a doctor acting on behalf of Dubai Police said a medical examination performed when she was pregnant proved she had not had sex.

The 15-year-old girl, MM, is charged with having sex outside of marriage along with her 17-year-old boyfriend, Y A.

The court was told the pair had been sexually active since the start of this year and when the parents of MM discovered she was pregnant, they reported it to the police.

MM told prosecutors that she was in love with YA, who she first met on the internet, and had been having sexual intercourse with him at her Oud Metha home after her parents fell asleep. "He had full sex with me about three times and when I told him I was pregnant, he did not care," she said.

YA, also an Emirati, denied having sex with the teenager, adding that they had broken up before he found out she was pregnant.

"I didn't make her lose her virginity, nor did I get her pregnant," he said.

Prosecutors have called for a DNA test on the baby to prove YA is not the father.

The police medical forensics report, signed by a Sharia clinical expert, claimed that when she was examined on August 8 she was about 29 weeks pregnant with a living foetus, but still a virgin.

The report said she could have become pregnant from a small amount of semen "seeping into her uterus", without the need for her to lose her virginity.

A doctor unrelated to the case yesterday said this theory was "almost impossible".

Both youngsters were put under the supervision of the judicial department.
