One person was killed and two others were severely injured after an air conditioner exploded in a residential building in Sharjah on Thursday morning. The incident happened during routine maintenance work, the emirate’s police said. The three Asian workers were taken to Al Qassimi Hospital. Col Yousef Obaid bin Harmoul, director of the Comprehensive Police Stations Department at Sharjah Police, said they were informed of the explosion in a residential tower on Al Wahda Street at 11am. Rescue crews and police patrols were dispatched to the site. “It was found during preliminary investigation that the incident happened when the technicians were repairing the compressor of the AC,” Col Harmoul said.
