DUBAI// An electrical cooker that can potentially overheat and cause a fire or even electrocute users has been withdrawn from sale in the UAE.
Customers who bought the Nevica 2 Hot Plate Electric Cooker have been urged to return the product for a full refund.
The Arabian Trading Agency (FAA), which sells the item, said it ordered the recall after Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) discovered the fault.
"Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council in cooperation with Federal Arabian Agency announce a product recall for safety reasons," said a newspaper advert from the FAA.
"Federal Arabian Agency request consumers who have purchased a Hot Plate, NEVICA, model number NV752EC/NV-755EC to stop using the product immediately due to possible product malfunction that could cause overheating which poses fire, burn and electrocuting hazards to consumers."
A spokesman for the FAA said the product has been withdrawn from sale across the country.
"We were informed by the ADQCC that there was some technical issues related to the product and so for safety reasons we have withdrawn the item from sale," he said.
"We are offering a full refund for the product."
