I had the scare of my life last week.
I had to interview someone at a factory somewhere near Dalma Mall in Abu Dhabi. I was told that the factory was just 15 minutes away from the shopping centre. I drove to the mall at the predetermined time, waiting for the interviewee’s assistant to arrive and lead the way.
As I followed his car, I couldn’t help noticing that the scenery around me was getting more desolate by the minute, while the road was getting bumpier and scarier. Picture this: giant lorries speeding by, and me navigating my way into what felt like the unknown.
As I tried to keep up with the car ahead, it didn’t help that there wasn’t a single tree or building in sight. To make things worse, the journey seemed to go on forever.
I had just begun reciting verses from the Quran when we suddenly reached our destination.
All around me were buildings, people and trees, and suddenly, I felt alive.
