Focal Point: Hot under the collar

Sometimes it’s an unexpected detail that can make a memorable image. While the focus is elsewhere on the main event – in this case French president Francois Hollande making a landmark speech at Louvre Abu Dhabi – there’s beauty to be found, and a story to be told, by keeping your eye on the periphery. Here, the juxtaposition of the neat, dark suit, the stark, white grille of the background and the splash of yellow from the screened construction equipment combine to frame a personal moment for a French security officer struggling with the heat. A beautiful image almost hidden within a grander, more orchestrated occasion. To look beyond the obvious lets you witness, and hopefully capture, those unexpected moments.
