Focal point: Behind the scenes

If you spend any time in the UAE, sooner or later you’ll find yourself at one large conference or another, listening to speakers and panel discussions and finding your way around the seemingly endless floor displays in the exhibition halls. However, tucked away in a dark corner of the conference theatres, you’ll find a small box, the translators’ booth. Staff photographer Pawan Singh captured a rather intriguing image of the translators at a recent conference in Dubai, working, waiting and listening in the little room in the dark.
