Clinton is winner in The National’s online opinion poll

ABU DHABI // Almost two out of three of respondents to The National's online poll said they would choose Hillary Clinton if they were eligible to vote.

The poll asked website users to give their age, nationality, gender, and preferred candidate in the US presidential election.

Of the 1,185 who took part, 60.5 per cent said they supported Democrat Mrs Clinton, and 30.5 would vote for Republican Donald Trump.

There was also some support for the third party candidates, with 5 per cent opting for Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and 4.2 per cent for the Green Party’s Jill Stein.

Most of the respondents - more than 35 per cent of them - were between 25 and 34 years old, while 33 per cent were between 35 and 44 years old.

Also, almost three quarters - 74 per cent - were male.

Of 95 British respondents, 63 opted for Mrs Clinton, while 67 out of 215 Americans said they would vote for Mr Trump.

A total of 121 Emiratis voted online, 41 of whom preferred Mr Trump.

Three out of the four Iranian respondents also said they would vote for Mr Trump.

Seven of 12 Lebanese chose Mrs Clinton, while two of three Palestinians voted for Mr Trump, as well as 67 of 164 Indians.

Eight of the 14 French people who voted opted for Mrs Clinton – as did 13 of 22 Germans – while two of 14 Egyptians voted for Mr Trump.
