DUBAI // A cleaner will be deported after she was convicted of stealing a ring worth Dh8,000 from her British employer.

On April 30, police arrested the 33-year-old Filipina for stealing from a French client and found the ring. They called her employer who did not remember having the piece of jewellery.

“But when they sent me a picture of the ring through Whatsapp, I remembered it was a gift from my aunt nine years ago.

“I didn’t notice it was missing but I received a call from Naif police station asking me if I had lost a ring,” said the Briton, 32.

The Filipina confessed to a charge of theft in Dubai Criminal Court last month.

She was given a three-month suspended sentence and the court ordered her deportation.
