DUBAI // A financial analyst who molested a colleague while she was preparing tea was sentenced to three months in jail on Sunday.

Indian K R, 40, had denied the sexual assault charges when he last appeared at Dubai Criminal Court in March.

Prosecutors said that on November 12 last year he touched his compatriot, D M, 27 inappropriately.

“It was about 9.30am when I went to the kitchen. He passed behind me and in the process touched my bottom with his left hand. I turned around and asked him why he had done so but he only smiled at me then left the kitchen,” said D M.

She added that two minutes later they bumped into each other in an elevator, where he touched her again.

“I got so confused and I was afraid to react, so I stayed quiet and when the lift door opened up, I went to my boss and informed her.”

The manager called K R to her office in the presence of D M. Court records state that he admitted touching her, apologised and asked her to forgive him.

“My boss said they would issue him with a warning but they didn’t do it. So, I decided after two weeks of waiting, to go to police,” D M said.

The man will be deported after serving his term.
