Food-lovers, rejoice: Gourmet Abu Dhabi is turning up the heat in the kitchens of the emirate once again. Foie gras, chocolate and other delicacies will be on offer during the two-week festival, which features a daily menu of culinary delights for even the most jaded palate. Yet, while indulging the tastebuds is always a delight, in the aftermath of the economic downturn perhaps there should be a nod to austerity chic. Indeed there is: one of the key elements of this year's festival, as we report today, will be the importance - and the benefits - of healthy eating. Everything in moderation is, after all, an ancient axiom that has guided many through frugal times.

So while there may be no million-dirham truffle auction for the truly obsessed this year, let there be no complaints. Foie gras will always be there to satisfy the fanciest appetite. If healthy diets catch on, perhaps this time next year we'll be tightening our belts for physical rather than fiscal reasons.
