DUBAI // Dar Al Ber Society will help with tuition fees at Ajman University of Science and Technology for low-income families to the tune of Dh500,000 annually.
The university has also said it will cut fees by 20 per cent for society staff members, their children and students of low-income families referred by the society.
The move followed deals being struck between the university, the society and the Thamer Fund for Educational Solidarity.
The agreements will be “added value” for needy students, said Abdullah Al Mazrouie, the Thamer Fund’s chairman.
“Cutting their academic fees will reduce the financial burden on their low-income families. Such generosity reflects the social solidarity overwhelming the UAE,” he said.
“All members of society should feel the suffering of each other, and come forward for help.”
The society and the university will co-sponsor scientific conferences and seminars on the best charitable and humanitarian practices and other relevant events, said Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, executive director of the society.
