Two accidents on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road leading out from Dubai to Abu Dhabi caused rush-hour tailbacks on Sunday morning.
Dubai Police said an accident on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road towards Jebel Ali caused traffic congestion in the morning as did a vehicle that caught fire on the same road before the vegetable and fruit market towards Abu Dhabi.
A vehicle that stalled at Al Shindagha Tunnel towards Bur Dubai also added to the traffic problems on Sunday morning.
In Abu Dhabi, police reported an accident between two cars on Al Sila road. The road had not been cleared when reports last came in and delays are expected.
Police have advised motorists to be extra cautious and to use alternative routes.
