Abu Dhabi to host Gulf Police HQ
Ministers of interior from Arabian Gulf countries have chosen Abu Dhabi to host the headquarters of the GCC Police.
Abdul Lateef Al Zayani, GCC secretary general, said the ministers at a meeting in Kuwait on Thursday expressed gratitude to the UAE capital for hosting the headquarters, the state news agency Wam reported.
Mr Al Zayani said the ministers issued instructions for the completion of studies that would help to achieve more integration within the collective GCC security system.
They reaffirmed “the determination and resolve of GCC states to combat terrorism and eradicate its causes [to protect] Gulf communities from its negative repercussions on their security and stability”.
The ministers expressed their pride in the high level of cooperation and coordination between member states’ security services.
They also commended efforts to eradicate terrorist organisations and factions, and their extremist ideologies that are incompatible with the principles and values of Islam and the Arab people.
The UAE delegation was led by Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
