Samia Badih is the Arts & Culture editor at The National in Abu Dhabi, joining the newspaper in 2018. Samia previously worked as a communications consultant on cultural projects in the UAE, including Louvre Abu Dhabi. Samia holds a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Language from Beirut Arab University.
Samia is also a documentary filmmaker with two titles under her belt. Her first feature documentary, Rasheed, tells the story of her uncle, who died three years before she was born. The film won Best Documentary at the Beirut International Women Film Festival in 2018. Her second film Unspoken, a short documentary funded by Image Nation Abu Dhabi, features Palestinian spoken-word poet Farah Chamma. It has screened at more than 30 film festivals around the world.
