Manus Cranny is Geo Economics Editor at The National and brings 30 years’ experience in global markets, finance and media. Before joining The National, he was an international TV anchor for Bloomberg TV and CNBC, hosting flagship morning news programmes from their global headquarters in New York City, and from London and Dubai. Throughout his career, Manus has interviewed global business and political leaders including Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, UBS Group chief Sergio Ermotti, and Uber chief Dara Khosrowshahi, along with a host of oil industry leaders at Total, Shell, ENI, Equinor and BP. In the Middle East, he has had one-on-one interviews with Dr Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed, Mubadala chief Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Education and former SABIC chief Yousef Al-Benyan and Qatar’s Finance Minister Ali Kuwari. Manus is an accomplished moderator, having led discussions at several destination conferences including FII Saudi Arabia, Miami, Rio De Janeiro, Milken, Bloomberg New Economy Forum and Qatar Economic Forum. His insights and knowledge are built across global markets from futures and options, equities and forex, to oil and commodities. Manus began his career as commodity trader and honed his institutional skills at First Chicago Bank (now part of JP Morgan Chase) and Cantor Fitzgerald. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Queen’s University Belfast.
