Jordy Van Dort, Justin Thielecke and Talal Al Khoder of VDR Racing have gone to the top of the Senior Nomad Cup Challenge leaderboard following a win in round two of the Senior Emirates Schools Karting Championship (ESKC) at the weekend.
Starting from pole position, VDR Racing lost their pole position early in the 60-minute endurance race, with JESS Arabian Ranches eventually taking control.
VDR Racing, however, wrested back the lead during the pit stops and eventually finished 14.223 seconds in front of Dubai English Speaking College (DESC) Team 4. JESS Arabian Ranches came in third, 18.477 seconds behind the champions.
Thielecke also set the fastest lap of the evening with a time of 1 minute, 10.834 seconds.
“It was magnificent to see all of the teams improve from round one,” Dubai Kartdrome official David Bright said. “This is especially true of VDR Racing, whose team members have been training a great deal lately.
“They were rewarded with the quadruple crown tonight: pole position, fastest lap, class win and overall win.”
With their overall win, VDR topped the podium in the Senior Nomad category, while P1 Racing, which has Emirati driver Rashid Al Awadhi, took second place and Ghost Racing, the defending Nomad Cup Challenge champions, finished third.
VDR Racing now tops the Senior Nomad Cup Challenge, a category for teams composed of drivers from mixed schools.
In the main Senior ESKC Category, where the teams comprise of drivers from one school, DESC Team 4 took the top honours, just ahead of JESS Arabian Ranches in second and Repton School in third.
JESS Arabian Ranches remain at the top of the overall points table in the Senior ESKC Challenge.
