Leicester have signed former France Under-21 midfielder Nampalys Mendy from Nice on a four-year deal.
The 24-year-old helped Nice secure a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 last season and becomes the Foxes’ third signing of the summer for an undisclosed fee.
The Premier League champions have already welcomed Ron-Robert Zieler and Luis Hernandez to the club and Mendy is looking forward to joining the ranks.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Mendy said: “I am very happy to come to Leicester City. The team have just enjoyed a great season and it’s excellent to be here.
“For me I want to play at this level. I like the Premier League and I follow every match. It’s fast and physical and I want to impose myself on the league.”
Mendy, signed for an undisclosed fee, worked under Claudio Ranieri during a spell with Monaco and is keen to renew his relationship with the Leicester manager.
He added: “I know the coach, I know his mentality and I know his philosophy. When he speaks it’s direct and clear and for me I like this.”
PSG add Primera Liga midfielder
Poland midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak has signed a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, the French champions said in a statement on Sunday.
The 26-year-old Krychowiak, a member of the Poland team who were eliminated by Portugal in the quarter-finals of the European Championship in France, joins from Spanish side Sevilla, where he played under the guidance of Unai Emery who has now been appointed PSG coach.
Arsenal sign Japanese forward
Arsenal have signed Japan forward Takuma Asano from J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima, subject to the completion of a medical and regulatory processes.
The 21-year-old has won five caps for Japan since making his debut in August 2015 and is set to take part in the Rio Olympics next month.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger told the club’s official website: “Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future.
“He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years.”
Takuma signed for Sanfrecce Hiroshima as an 18-year-old in January 2013 and went on to make 56 appearances, scoring 11 goals.
