Tottenham have completed the signing of Burnley defender Kieran Trippier on a five-year contract.
The 24-year-old right-back, who is believed to have had a £3.5million (Dh20.4m) release clause, leaves Turf Moor after four years.
“When I first heard that the club was interested I didn’t have to think twice,” he told tottenhamhotspur.com.
“It’s such a big club and now I just can’t wait to get started and show everyone what I can do.
“I’ll take every opportunity I get with both hands and hopefully play my part for everyone at the club.
“Whenever I get a chance, I want to do well for the other players, the staff and, of course, the fans.”
Trippier only signed a new three-year contract with Burnley following their promotion to the Premier League a year ago, but written into that deal was an agreement for him be allowed to move on should they be relegated, which subsequently happened.
This week, as talks progressed with Spurs, Burnley boss Sean Dyche said it was only right the club honoured that agreement.
“He made a great decision last summer to sign a contract, stay with the club, and we had to honour that in the respect that if we didn’t stay in the Premier League, then we’d allow him the chance to go on,” he said.
“I think that’s an honourable thing to do with someone who’s been such a good servant and said he’d stay with Burnley in the Premier League.
“He’s a very good player and it’s no surprise people came knocking.”
A statement from Burnley added: “A clause in that extension allowed clubs to talk to the former England Under-21 international, should his valuation be met.
“Spurs triggered that clause and have now moved to make Trippier their second summer signing.
“Burnley Football Club would like to thank Kieran for his significant contribution to the club and wish him every success in his future career.”
