The first stage of the race itself was won by Australian surprise Rohan Dennis, who said afterward he had ambitions on modelling the yellow jersey at least for a little longer.
“It’s always a bit rough losing the jersey after one day.
“If I can hold it for (another) one, two, three (days) or until the team timetrial (on stage nine) that would be great.”
