Godolphin's Kite Wood returned home with a stiff back following his dismal display in Saturday's Geoffrey Freer Stakes. Frankie Dettori reported to the Newbury stewards that the St Leger runner-up had lost his action when only sixth behind Sans Frontieres. "Kite Wood has a bit of a stiff back. He was stiff after the race so we have no plans for him," said the trainer Saeed bin Suroor. That was the only black mark on an otherwise excellent weekend for bin Suroor, with Campanologist winning a second consecutive Group One in Germany and Shakespearean claiming the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury. "Campanologist won very well. He's happy now in himself, he has confidence," added bin Suroor.
"We'll take him to Baden-Baden for his next race to see if he can win in Germany again. "He's always been very consistent. "Shakespearean won very well and we'll keep our options open for him. There are many races coming up that he can run in. "He's come back sound after the race but we'll keep our options open before we decide. "I think he will get a mile." * Press Association
