The Seattle Sounders advanced to next month's Major League Soccer championship final, where they will try to become the first team to win back-to-back titles. Nate Jaqua scored twice to lead the Sounders past Chivas USA 3-1 and into the title game. They will host the Columbus Crew, who beat DC United 2-1 in the other semi-final.
Didier Olle-Nicolle was hired to coach the struggling Swiss club Neuchatel Xamax, which is mired in ninth place. Olle-Nicolle, who formerly coached French Ligue 1 side Nice but was fired in March, signed until June 2011. He replaces Jean-Michel Aeby who was fired after just four months in charge when Neuchatel lost four of their first six matches.
League champions Litex Lovech have appointed Luboslav Penev as head coach. Penev, 44, is a former striker for Bulgaria's national team and the Spanish club Valencia. He had coached CSKA Sofia until being dismissed in January. Penev replaces former youth team coach Petko Petkov, who had assumed the interim head coach role.

Veteran defender Javier Zanetti said he might try to win a place in the national squad for the 2014 World Cup after having been left out of this year's tournament by Diego Maradona.
